Website owners are always looking for QUICK traffic generation systems that they can AFFORD.
   They are immediately attracted by the SELL IT CHEAP and SCAM SEO Merchants, who constantly patrol the internet, ready to pounce on unsuspecting punters.
    We all know by now, that effective SEO requires large amounts of time and effort ... and, as a consequence, that means it DOES NOT COME CHEAP.

There are businesses on the internet that will promise you thousands of one-way back-links for as little as $30 per month.

You definitely need to steer clear of these, since they will usually supply you one-way links from their OWN themed directories and article directories.

They work OK for a while, keeping below the radar, but once these "directories" get discovered by Google and seen for what they are, all your effort and investment disappears in an instant.

Sure, you could take the chance, but in my book, that is GAMBLING with the success of your business.

If it looks to good to be true, it usually IS.

Dubious SEO companies make loads of promises and price their service cheaply to attract their clients. These scam SEO companies do initial On-Site optimisation, auto-submit to Link Farms and Link Exchange Programs and that's about it.

To them it's just a numbers game and look for the next desperate site owner to be lured into their trap. 6 months down the line the client is worse off, having lost their so called investment and received only small amounts of that vital internet lifeblood - TRAFFIC.

FIRST PAGE SEO SCAMS TO BE AWARE OF ...

The Salesman offers to get your site LISTED on Google's first page WITHIN A FEW DAYS!
Looks good, BUT what they do is to use Google Adwords or Yahoo Search Marketing to get you listed for a few hours a day. They then take a screen shot of the listing, whilst it is up, and use that as proof of your website being listed on the First Page for a specific keyword. They charge you say $290 a month but only spend $100 and pocket the difference! Here today - gone tomorrow.

They Guarantee a TOP 10 RANKING in the organic search results in 4 days. Well, if you read the small print what they actually guarantee is that your site will be listed 4 days AFTER the search engines have re-indexed their databases, which can take anything from 4 weeks up to 16 weeks.

They ask you to place special web pages known as DOORWAY PAGES on your site. Google's guidelines ban doorway pages and you may even land up having your website permanently banned from the listings for quite some time.

They claim to have a special relationship with the search engines like Google or Yahoo, or that they have some internal knowledge as one of their developers once worked for a search engine.

I'LL GIVE IT TO YOU STRAIGHT. NO COMPANY has a special inside track with any of the search engines. Anyone who says they do are talking BS and are to be avoided like the plague.

Some companies will charge you around $1000 for SET-UP with an ongoing monthly fee of around $400 with a PROMISE to get you listed in the Top 10 rankings. The keyword here is "promise". Many will then simply tweak your page 'Meta Tags' and add a few links back to your website from a few general blogs that THEY own. Your site receives an initial boost and you may rank well for a month or two but then you disappear again.

They make their money on the so-called "keyword research" and the SET-UP PHASE. The monthly fee is a bonus. Since no guarantees are offered you cannot get your money back.

BTW - Meta Tag tweaking on its own is OLD HAT. It still has some importance but is only a tiny, tiny part of optimisation. LONG TERM "Link Building" is the main strategy to successful SEO.

Some companies choose "keywords" that will definitely guarantee that you get listed on the First Page, but will deliver very little traffic if any at all. These are long-tail keywords. They might use something like "help the best shoe repair company London". Anyone would guarantee you a first page listing for this keyword, but you would receive NO Traffic, because no-one is searching for that string of words.

Some companies state that they will get you a first page listing onto the search engines. In their list of engines will be a few that no-one has ever heard of. They get your website listed in these which covers them for their GUARANTEE. Ripped-Off yet again!!!
